MANILA, Philippines — Samsung’s commitment to innovation and leadership in the world of technology was demonstrated when Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation (SEPCO) unveiled the Ultrabook, the Series 5 ULTRA. The launch, which was held at Privé Luxury Club at the Fort Strip, was led by Samsung business unit director for IT Eric Sulit, Samsung business adviser for IT James Kwon and Intel marketing manager Randy Kanapi.
During the launch, Samsung also introduced its “ULTRA Icons.” These are the achievers and entrepreneurs who embody self-empowerment. They share the same attributes of the Series 5: they grab all opportunities and strive to be the best that they can be. The ULTRA Icons are Juliet Herrera of Serenitea, Alfie Sy of Cash Cash Pinoy and Eugenio Gonzalez of Quick Delivery. Each of them was presented with a Samsung Series 5Ultrabook in recognition of the revolutionary ideas they introduced in their field of work.
During the event, guests were encouraged to write down their answers to the question, “How do you make yourself ULTRA?” Their answers were posted on a wall dubbed the “Opportunity Wall.” Dee Jae Pa’este’s live graphic exhibition also showcased the Series 5’s features when he used this gadget for his stunning graphic show.
“With the Samsung and Intel partnership we can jumpstart the adoption of Ultrabooks. Our findings strongly indicate that consumers demand more than just thin and light devices; they also want higher levels of performance, bigger storage and longer battery life. The Samsung Series 5 ULTRA will be the first to answer these needs,” said Eric Sulit.
Spanish Flair and Flavor
While the economic crisis in Spain is producing a “jobless generation” among its youth, my favorite Spanish tapas and wine bar Barcino is still going strong in the Philippines. Barcino has certainly made a significant contribution when it made wine and cava a part of our lifestyle.
Barcino hosted a two-day party to celebrate the launching of its newest branch in Alabang. This latest Barcino baby follows the branches in Ortigas, Fort Bonifacio, Greenbelt 5, Greenbelt 2, and Rockwell. The latest branch is located on the ground floor of Alabang Town Center.
On the first day of the celebration, Barcino hosted a special wine dinner for members of the media. Authentic Spanish dishes by Chef Borja Duran were paired with premium beer Estrella Galicia and finely selected wines from Vallformosa, Gonzalez Byass, Martin Codax, Ponte da Boga, Bodegas Fontana and Bodegas Lan.
The second party was attended by more than 450 guests who were all in anticipation of a great night filled with dancing and free-flowing Spanish tapas and superb wines. Despite the gloomy weather, the party was sensational.
The program kicked-off with a captivating show from Grupo Nuevo Flamenco of Emma Estrada. Guests gathered near the stage to watch this one of a kind performance. Then, they were soon up to their feet dancing to the interminable beats of Vito Mismo, Nykó Macá and DJ Marshall White. It was indeed a great party to celebrate years of success!
